Montiaceae

(mon-tee-AY-see-ee)
– a family in the Caryophyllales order –

Here in the St. Louis Area, we have 3 not-too-obscure plants that are in the Miner’s Lettuce Family (all of which once belonged to the Portulaceae):

  • Claytonia virginica (Spring Beauty) [CC3]
  • Phemeranthus calycinus (Large-Flowered Fameflower) [CC8]
  • Phemeranthus parviflorus (Small-Flowered Fameflower) [CC10]

[CC] = Coefficient of Conservatism
